Dabeeo attends UNFCCC COP28, Announcing Industry-Academia Collaboration Plan for Climate Change Response Technology and Green AI Talent Development

On the 1st of Dec, Dabeeo, a specialized AI technology company in spatial information,
participated in the 28th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties(COP28) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

 

At the conference, organized by the Ministry of Environment and co-hosted by Kookmin
University and the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea, under the theme of 'Global Climate
Talent Development,' Dabeeo shared its innovative AI technology for climate change
response and plans for nurturing future talent. Invited to the conference session on
fostering innovation in climate change response technology, Dabeeo was introduced as
an exemplary case in the industry for fostering innovative technologies in climate change
response.

 

During the session, Dabeeo presented its achievements and outlined future plans.
Through this presentation, Dabeeo introduced essential AI core technologies for climate
change response and emphasized the importance of nurturing talent for solving global
climate issues. Dabeeo has been actively involved in various industry-academia
collaboration projects, including collaboration with educational institutions such as
DGIST(Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology) and Hanseo University,
through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's ATC project.

 

Dabeeo also announced plans to strengthen collaboration with domestic universities in
the future. The company aims to expand its collaboration with specialized institutions,
such as Korea University Graduate Program Specialized in Carbon Sink(KU-GPSCS)
supported by Korea Forest Service and Ojeong Resilience Institute at Korea University,
and Climate Leader Education Office(CLEO) at Kookmin University. Dabeeo plans to focus
on fostering technology for global climate change issues and carbon reduction through
the advancement of its satellite image-based ground object detection AI service,
EARTHEYE. This involves the establishment of a digital MRV(Monitoring, Reporting, and
Verification) environment for the rapid and precise analysis of extensive forest areas,
facilitating enhanced collaboration with global carbon sequestration sources, carbon
emission rights industries, information exchange, research, technology
commercialization, and the training of specialized personnel.

 

Park Ju Hum, CEO of Dabeeo, stated, "For global climate change response, nurturing
future talent is as important as current technological innovation." He expressed the
company's commitment to contributing to technological development and talent
cultivation through collaboration with various educational institutions in the future.

 

Professor Son Yowhan, Director of the Korea University Graduate Program Specialized in
Carbon Sink(KU-GPSCS) supported by Korea Forest Service, emphasized the significance
of the collaboration, stating, "In the current context, where the importance of forests is
increasing daily alongside global carbon neutrality declarations, the collaboration
between our graduate school, which focuses on cultivating forestry experts, and Dabeeo
is meaningful." Professor Kang Yoonhee, Director of the Climate Leader Education
Office(CLEO) at Kookmin University, expressed expectations for various projects with
Dabeeo in the future, stating, "Through nurturing climate talent with digital literacy, we
will contribute to solving future climate change issues together with Dabeeo."
