Geospatial information AI technology company Dabeeo announced on the 13th that it has been selected for the “KSIS Data-based Microsatellite Utilization System Development and Testing” project, commissioned by the National Satellite Information Utilization Support Center of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI). Dabeeo, in consortium with LIG Nex1, will serve as the executing agency for this project, which officially commenced in this month and will continue until 2030.

The project aims to strengthen Korea's maritime security and disaster response capabilities by developing a utilization system based on the Korea Small Imaging Satellite System(KSIS) data. This system processes SAR standard images and AIS data collected from the National Satellite Operations Center to provide derived outputs usable by the Korea Coast Guard. Leveraging SAR satellite data, which is unaffected by weather or cloud conditions, the system is designed to establish a high-precision maritime security monitoring system capable of minimizing false detection rates and offering accurate detection and analysis.

Dabeeo will oversee the design and development of the satellite utilization system, the core of the project. By advancing its deep learning algorithm-based object detection and classification technologies, the company plans to analyze SAR satellite data obtained through the microsatellite system to detect and classify vessels.

Dabeeo specializes in converting geospatial information from satellite, aerial and drone-based imagery into digital data for precise analysis using AI technology. Its key technologies include image super resolution, object detection, instance segmentation, 3D reconstruction and change detection. The company has expanded its business into diverse fields globally, including terrain analysis and infrastructure management at urban and national scales, detection of illegal structures for urban planning and management, vegetation index analysis for forestry and agriculture and surveillance and reconnaissance monitoring system development. This latest project is expected to be a significant milestone in Dabeeo's efforts to expand its defense sector operations.
